Little Axe Health Center Diabetes and Wellness
The goal of the diabetes and wellness program is to provide a supportive resource to tribal members or other American Indian/Alaska Natives who either are currently diagnosed with diabetes, pre-diabetes or at risk and seeking information and/or support. The program offers guidance on healthy lifestyle changes such as eating healthy, exercise tips including workout classes with 2 certified trainers and keys to reducing stress. They also provide comprehensive case management services for patients diagnosed with diabetes, pre-diabetes or at risk for developing diabetes.
Services are offered to Absentee Shawnee Tribal members, tribal employees and American Indians and Alaska Natives from the surrounding counties.

Closed for Holidays
Closed the first Wednesday of the month from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Diabetes and Wellness Fitness Center
The Fitness Center is located at the AST Resource Center, 1970 156th Avenue NE, in Norman. It is staffed with trainers that provide education, monitoring, exercise classes and continued access to activities that promote exercise.
To access the facility, you must:
- Be an enrolled Absentee Shawnee Tribal Member; or
- Be a member of a federally recognized tribe with a CDIB; or
- Be an AST employee (spouse eligible); or
- Be an AST Health Program referral; and
- Be at least 14 years and up (ages 14-16 must have parent present)
All eligible members are required to complete an intake form before utilizing the exercise facility.
