Shawnee Clinic Transportation
The ASTHS Transportation program’s mission is to enhance the economic and social well-being of the Absentee Shawnee tribal people and surrounding American Indian/Alaska Native community through the delivery of safe, reliable, efficient and friendly transportation services.
The transportation program provides non-emergent transportation services for elders (55 years and older) with no other means of transportation for medical appointments, who reside within Pottawatomie, Cleveland, and parts of Oklahoma County within a 25-mile radius of the Shawnee Clinic. AST member preference is applied.
Patient scheduling is on a “first come and first serve” basis. Please contact the Transportation Manager/Coordinator 72 hours (3 days) in advance of an appointmen. The patient must indicate the time of the appointment and location address. If the patient requires assistance, prior approval must be obtained by the transportation program at the time of transport scheduling. Any patient who does not call to cancel their spot for transport ride is considered a “no call/no show”. After 2 “no call/no shows”, the patient will be denied for a period of 90 days. Every effort will be made to return the patient(s) after each appointment to the place of origin as soon as possible, given any time restraints. Transportation is only allowed to take the patient to the approved /reserved destination.
It is the patient’s responsibility to provide transportation to and from any procedure(s), such as general surgery, minor surgery, outpatient care requiring sedation, and/or any hospital discharges.
When inclement weather is apparent, the transportation staff will make every effort to notify scheduled patients of any cancellations or schedule changes.
